Grownote - a web-based management system for your orchard business, big or small.

Our Story

Grownote has been under rigorous development over the last two years by a compact team of top-notch developers. We're related to Radford Software so we have a wealth of horticultural experience to call on (more than 200 years collectively, in fact). Radfords have traditionally focussed on post-harvest applications, but demand was felt from orchardists far and wide for an easy-to-use, but comprehensively featured, orchard management system. So here it is!

It also needed to include an administration system to simplify standards compliance - a tedious yet crucial exercise for many orchardists.

The development path of Grownote has been guided by several specialists from the kiwifruit, avocado and apple industries and by those "in-the-know" when it comes to compliance matters. Getting the German Head Office of GlobalGAP to agree to our concept was a major turning point for the project.

Grownote will continue to develop at pace after its commercial launch in October 2012. We pride ourselves in being market-driven, and client-sensitive. We look forward to YOU playing a part in this exciting venture.

Meet the Grownote team

  • The technical brains behind it all – and the Director of Grownote. Phil has been a solution architect for more than 20 years and has specialised in the horticulture industry for most of that time. Often seen catching huge snapper and teasing rainbow trout.

  • Our hard-core analyst with a strong compliance focus. Yes, she’s American but a convert to the Kiwi lifestyle - and loves the Bay of Plenty. Julie first arrived here as a Rotary Exchange Student (quite!) a few years ago and has been part of the Grownote crew since it all started.

  • Our un-flappable lead developer with the bonus of strong public-sector exposure in web applications. Paul has travelled the world extensively as an Engineer. Now he surfs the waves most mornings before hitting the Grownote keyboard. 2 years in the fold and going strong.

  • David is our GIS (Geographic Information Systems) specialist, so any mapping ideas – straight to him. David has the ability to work across several development projects at a time. He joined us after leaving Japan in a hurry when the tsunami struck. Loves being back in NZ.
